Front end issue. Need opinions.

The snows starting to finally melt off up here and recently i crawled up under my 2000 7.3 X trying to track down a dull thumping from under the floor boards. What i found was an oil leak at the joint.........

Suggestions? I suspect the thumping to be ball joints, but i'm not sure at all of the leak. Possible a seal going out ?

Bad ball joints usally give steering problems, bad u-joints will cause thumping noise when turning or driving in 4x4.

Are you getting a shake in the front end when you hit the brakes. If you did your rotors would be warped but as for a thumping im not sure

I was tryin to figure out the thump noise in my truck it would do it when I went over a speed bump and I could feel it in the floor board mine ended up being the track bar bracket it was cracked and the bolt that goes in the crossmember under the motor was loose just an idea to check out.

I will have to check that! I just changed everything from the inner-C out balljoints, shaft joints, all seals...etc and I still get the thud under the floorboards.

But yeah in the authors pic it definately looks like your inner axle seal took a poo. That could have worn out because of some play moving out towards your ball joints or somewhere else? just my 2cents.
