another gear thread

Hey everybody I have a quick question to ask. I am running 35" tires with a stock gear ratio of 3.73 I would like to re-gear the truck to get a little more speed out of it and more punch off the line. What gears are you running in your trucks with 35" tires and what rpm are you at going 75mph?????

maybe like a 4:56 gear would probably fit your bill.

humm 4:56 seem kinda high ... what mpg are you getting city and highway i was told 4:10's but not really sure why?

4.10 will put you close to your stock 3.73 and oem tires

More punch would be 4.30 or 4.56 and most likely better mpg's

I don't know if it will help you or not, but I have an 02 with 35's and run 4:56 gears. I try to run it at 2000-2250 rpms. At 2000 rpms the speed is 63mph. I geared it this way in anticipation of putting 38" tires on the beast. This would get it back close to stock with a little bit more "kick".

My mpg suck, 10-12 mph depending on city or hwy. Not impressed with mpgs but this thing will pull the house off the foundation.

did your MPGs go up or down after you re-geared the truck??

My mpg went down approx 2 mpg. I looked at the gear ratio chart and picked a ratio that would be just a tad over what stock was with 38" tires. I probably could have done a 4:30 with the 35's and been good but I am planning a a bigger lift and tires real soon.

I have a small problem i bought my 99 f-350 4x4 DWR factory gears are supose to be 4.10 some body befor i got it put 4.30 vf81a-axg dana in it its the big gear ring & pinion 11.25 rather than spend alot of $$$$ buying gears its in my truck now ofcourse if some one has the equivilant dana 80 with 4.10 to trade vf81a-aug or auh i dont know what the differance is between those 2 diffs mine is the locking type dwr with disc brakes and i would definatly want the same in the 4.10 /1999-03 dana 80 11.25 only it would save both partys $$$ and please dont try and be dishonist and try and trade me a bad one i garantee mine to be good i expect the same from other brother power strokers thanks
