Clutch pedal issues

Hey everybody!
I have a 99 F250 7.3 and the clutch pedal popped up against the dashboard this morning. I guess i've been noticing it getting slightly higher lately, but today it hit the dash. So upon further inspection I noticed that the pedal assembly and the rod going to the master was disconnected from the master. I don't see anything on the end of the rod except a groove that I'm guessing holds a lock ring, minus any lock rings. I can't seem the push the rod back into the master, but the clutch operates normally (minus the height).

I guess what I'm asking is do I need to replace the rod? Or the master/slave assembly? Or is this not a replacement deal and I just need to get more force behind the rod? I'm a mechanic by trade but today is my day off so accessing mitchell is kind of difficult. Plus, 99% of the time this forum offers better info on these trucks. Thanks for all the help!
