Angry no 4x4 (electrical problem ? )

my 4x4 has not worked since i purchased the truck
I have checked all the fuses and relays and they are good
thought it was the GEM module so i replaced it with a new one from the dealership it made no difference
nothing at all happens when I turn the knob to any position no indicater lights come on or anything
I have checked the connecters on the accuator , esof swicth , brake swicth , etc
hoping someone has some insight on this problem
thanks in advance for any help

Have you actually tested it?

My 4wd works, including auto-hubs, but the light on the dash doesn't turn on.

Well here it goes, my truck 2001 F350 with 7.3 my 4x4 quit about two months ago. I found a wire that was broken at the harness on drivers side. (green wire) This fixed the problem at this time, I tried to use the 4x4 again a few weeks ago and nothing. No light on dash. Checked all wires, relays and nothing. Able to by pass the relays (brown/white wire and the shift motor moves) Yesterday took the truck to Ford and had them look at it. They explained that the GEM is working. They did the tests on the GEM with their computer and had the light turn on the dash and shift motor move and read the that switch on the dash was working. The problem that they had was that when the key was turned on the GEM did not see it and is unable to put the truck in 4x4. They were unable to find the problem with the ignition. They replaced the ignition coil and nothing. After spending $650.00 and still no 4x4. (does not work in auto or manual) Has anyone else been having this problem??? I wanted to let everone know what has been done so far and still the dealer is unable to find the problem. Will be looking into maybe the fuse panel its self.

Has anyone check the transfer case shift motor itself. i just replaced one and had the same problems. ohm out the motor and see if it is open. If the motor show open you will have to replace it.

Hi Harperc, thanks for the information but here is a twist to the story, ford said they were done with it. I went to pick it up and know the truck is stuck in 4x4 low and there is no power to the shift motor and Ford is unable to use their computer to get it out of low. They took the shift motor off and tried to shift it back to 2x4 but only got it to 4x4 high. I am thinking that they did alot of damage to the shifter fork for now unable to get it into 2x4. So far its been in the shop this whole week and they are working on it on their on penny.
I told them to check the shifter motor by using a jumper wire to the yellow and orage wire to see if it still works and if not to replace the motor.
Here is a question Harperc, did you have no lights on the dash whne yours would not work?
