No. its a steering box, pitman arm or tie rod issue IMO

If it were a spring type or worn suspension issue you'd have bump steer or bad tire wear, not a weird loose steering, then catch.

It is not just the 250's. My one ton is doing the same thing. I can adjust it at the gear box and it is only good for a couple of weeks.

Worn suspension parts could still cause a handling issue and still have even tire wear if the worn suspension is affecting your caster. Negative caster will cause it to wander going down the highway. I don't think this is your problem tho. As for loose steering it has to be worn parts in your steeering linkage. Your steering is a fully mechanical linkage from your steering wheel to your knuckles, if your steering wheel moves a few inches before your wheels move then their is slop somewhere in the linkage. What most of what you all described sounds like a worn valve in your steering gear, or the Piston, or in the sector shaft.

Rock Auto.com purchase

Thanks for the link to rockauto, I did purchase steering gear Saturday online & just rec today tuesday. I hope it does the trick. I should mention I plow snow with my truck and so work the steering pretty hard. The truck has 92k and I have owned for six years this month. next month she is all mine! no more bank payments, just these mechanical expenses.
