pick up or power problem??????
I just bought a 2001 F350 7.3 6 speed manual, production date 01/01. First diesel, at the first start up of the day it has less power than if I get into the office and then have to go to another site. Feels sluggish until it has warmed up. So I waited the next morning until it idled up to operating temp, same sluggish feel when driving. It has 116,000 miles on it. And runs excelent any other time of the day. ???????

No sound of a jet, it just kind of boogs down until I can get it in the boost spun up. After that it runs fine all day. BACK ground. I only live 5 miles from my work, it takes that long for it too clear out. When I go to lunch 4 hours later depending on the air temp it may do the same thing, but if it's warm out runs great. Now next week I'm moving 20 miles out of town, just bought a mew home with 40 acres, 1900 sqft house, in ground pool and the best part a steel insulated 15 foot (tall) garage doors all concrete 30x70 shop. I can't wait to move. I'm going to build a gun range so I and my friends have a place to let off a little steam. With all that I it there any way to clean the valve you mention? Or must it be replaced? Thanks |

Yeah it sounds like the ebpv is sticking,,,its either the valve is sticking or the solenoid that controls the ebpv is getting weak,,,either way,,,,,you can just unplug it(the connector for it is right beside/under the turbo on the drivers side,,its a 2 wire connector) or you can hook one of the wires from it(the ebpv) to a toggle switch that has a +12 lead going to it. Doing this will close the valve when ever you turn the switch to the on position... One bonus in doing it that way is that you can use it as an exhaust brake when towing or hauling something heavy. Congrats on the new house |

yes you can do what scooby said about the valve and the switch but the only thing i would worry about is that the valve is not made to be an exhaust brake and not made to handle a lot of stress. it all just depends on how much you are gonna be hauling. you could also just unhook the valve and leave it in the off position. the only problem with that is that if you live in a cold area it is gonna be harder for your truck to warm up.
