MIND WAS DOING that also, found out it was the rear of the front leaf spring bushings. and its a B%#@ to change. but i had no grinding and it felt like it was under my feet. and it took me for ever to finally locate the problem. What i noticed was shinny metal on that leaf spring hanger and pieces of rubber sticky out. I change the passenger side now i have to do the drivers side. Maybe this will help oh and it has to be pressed in & out.

Mine turned out to be an exhaust clamp on the downpipe. It worked its way loose and kept getting wedged against the firewall and tranny bellhousing and making a terrible noise. I got it out and bam, silent.
