I was at a meeting today regarding the new 08 6.4 at our dealership . I was told only cj4 oil and motorcraft exclusive additives will be accepted and anything other than ford products will be sent in for analysis buy an independent lab to declare weather or not injectors or any other part of this new engine will be covered .

Also any trace of standard low sulfur diesel or dyed off road diesel will void warranty .

Any modification to the factory exhaust will void warranty as well as any other than stock programing .

Ford motor company is really laying down the law on this motor . no exceptions . Supposedly the new generation pcm will set a new code the cannot be erased by an aftermarket tuner/program . It will be stored in the keep alive memory , so if you plan on modding at all , including lifts,exhaust,programming(their 3 biggest concerns) be prepared to give up any and all warranty rights . magnison/moss will not bail anyone out of this strict policy as we were told today .

I was also told your service history by and at a ford dealer will come into play as to weather or not you will be covered if something goes wrong . If you have never done any maintenance or service with ford certified techs you have nobody in fords system to track your history . it will go along way if something does happen if you have had the truck regularly serviced at your dealer . It shows your commitment to keeping it maintained by ford techs .

Now the good news is they have done the equivalent of 10 million miles of durability testing . supposedly all bugs have been worked out and no hiccups from the 6.0 will be carried over . the engine will also run on bd5 only .there is a water in fuel sensor with a valve to be emptied monthly and a cooldown period of 3-5 minutes after highway or towing is required and can be tracked via the pcm by ford . the new turbos have been treated by some type of anti-corrosive material as well .

supposedly in stock form we have one hella strong truck to look forward to , just be very carefull of any type of mod including plus sized tires as they will be very strict on this considering the current legal situation with navistar/international regarding warranty claims .
