Thermostat Drain Plug

I want to install a bypass coolant filter and the first thing I need to do is remove the thermostat drain plug. I've watch videos and other peoples plugs are female ...mine is a male! I'm having a hell of a time trying to find a 1/2" square female socket to remove this. Where can I find one? ...or a set that contains one??

I think I just answered my own question ... I need to pick up an eight point socket set.

Anyone have a source for reasonably priced 8-point sockets??

A 12-point box wrench should grab it. Or an open-end.

I have 12 points and they don't seem to grab enough. I'm afraid I'll strip the corners. Also, there is no room in this area.... even with the top coolant hose removed and the belt out of the way the AC compressor is directly overhead. The fan and fan shroud is just infront...ugh!! I figure I can come in from the right side, just below the compressor with an 8 point socket and swivel. Been looking for an 8 point set but they are ridiculously expensive.
