97 PSD loss of power

hi, I have a 97 PSD..It will start fine no problems....but after a long idle i'll take off and i lose alot of power, it will move, but barely any power, so i stop and rev it up and the engine will only rev up to 2200 rpms max...so i shut down the engine and start it back and it will run fine like it should..i changed the fuel filter twice in the past two weeks thinking it was that but it wasnt...it did it no matter what the weather was...i changed the oil two weeks ago so that is covered...im not sure what it could be,,,

Whats your fuel pressure? Might be a fuel pump going bad. Its obviously something with your fuel system

my friend had some off brand chip and it was doing the same. he took it out and she ran fine. thing but now that you said some thing about the fuel pump, that could be it too.

yup i have a Banks Big Hoss level 4 chip...i've had the chip for about 4 years...I had a fuel pressure check about a year ago and it was good, i could have it checked again...but i had the ford dealership put my truck on the computer and a code came up for the exhaust back pressure sensor...but i never changed it yet..

I would take it to a shop and get your fuel system checked out.

i second that, if you have a Banks its not the chip

have you tryed takeing off the chip and try it stock just to rule the chip out?
if not then are you haveing and un usual white or black smoke?
if not then i would suspect a injector nozzel broke off- not a great mechanic but just gessin and tryin to help

yup when it does it again i'll have to go to the shop and the fuel pressure checked to make sure thats its a fuel problem....were having alot of problems with our diesel fuel up here right now...i know alot of guys with duramax's and powerstrokes are changing there fuel filters like crazy, the local parts store cant keep up with filters...i dont know you guys are having the same problems...

i never tried removing the chip yet..but i noticed when it boggs it dont smoke black like it should...well right now up here its cold so its gonna smoke white all the time...but when its warm and it boggs it dont smoke at all...
