So i was out and i went to start me truck and the Cylanoid opend but the starter didnt move so my brother told me to lay under the truck and hit it with something metal as someone tried to crank it. and that workd. so he told me to buy a new starter when i get home. So i bought a 255dollar starter and put it in. it starts fine 3 times the fourth time it keeps spinning, so i turn the truck off and it keeps spinning, keys out. the engines not cranking but the starters spinning SOO fast so by the time i could get the batteries unplugged it was smoking. So i have to return it and get a new one. but as its up on my lift i notice my rear leaf mount cracked some time and my waterpump is leaking. so now i need new leaf mounts, another starter, and a waterpump. probably should get glowplugs while im at it.
who new one day could turn out to be so expensive..

yeah, stuff aint cheap on our trucks man. that sux about your luck. at least the starter is under warrnaty. I would get a firewall solenoid while your at it, so you know its not faulty.

lol ok i can deal with 7 bucks. yeah mine as well do that even if its fine its almost 14 years old so good to have a new one.

cheap insurance. I have seen them go bad and cause the starter to stick.

Hopefully the gear on the sarter shaft spun free, if not you better inspect your flywheel, have someone turn over the engine with a large breaker bar and inspect all the teeth. I would replace the starter relay as well.
The water pump you want is made by air tex, sold at Carquest for $120 with lifetime warranty, or from Northern Auto for $90 with no warranty.
No need to replace GP's until you know they are bad, so follow the troubleshooting in the maintenance section. If you do need them, use only Beru GP's, nothing else, this is the company that Makes the Motorcraft ZD-11's.

Good To Know. I thought a water pump would be like 200.
now do you have any discounts to get 120 or is that just walking in the door? because i can get cheap parts from CarQuest.
And i looked at the teeth on the Starter and there are all fine no scratches or chunks missing so i hope the flywheel is good.

I had a loose starter on one of these once. Took first 1/8 off of all the teeth. Was able to shim and get good fit up to the whole flywheel.
