Batt. light on, gauge still showing charge???
I've had my 3rd rebuilt atl. go bad(Advance auto) so I opted for their "New" alt. It's been on the truck about 2 months. Now the batt. light comes on, but the gauge is still showing on the positive side of "NORMAL". The batt light is not on all the time, but it seams to change when ever I rev up the engine. Some times it flickers, other times it will stay on for miles. The headlights do flicker whenever the batt light flashes. What gives???? Do I have another piece of crap alt? or do I have a wiring issue? Thanks

Check the single wire terminal on top of the alternator (white wire?) The heater hose usually rubs on the wire and buggers up the connection, causing the Battery light to come on.

I've changed alts. so many times on this truck it's a good chance the plug is wore out
Thanks for the thought, I'll look at that tomorrow. ![]() |
