E brake

for some reason, tonight my emergency brake didn't work at all, it might have been this way for a long time but I never paid any attention to it. anyboby got any suggestions to what might be the problem?

Check the cables. There is one coming from the pedal itself down to a bracket on the drivers side frame rail. Then it splits into 2 cables and goes to each rear drum. One of these could have split or corroded.

Yeah plus one on what rick said, I had the same problem then looked under my truck and my cables just werent even there, probably rusted off a while ago

jack your truck off the ground and take the drums off. The cable system ford had back there for the e-brake or as some call it the self adjuster is horable they fray and fall apart. causing poor e-brakes and boor brakes

The cam that the cable goes around on my pedal assy split in two and the cable fell in making it too loose to tighten the brakes. You can still push the pedal down but just nothing happens. I'm about to pull it off and see if I can weld it back together before headin to the dealer.

Took a bit of time to pull the pedal assy off but I was easily able to weld the split piece back together and It works perfectly. The original design was a press fit I think my welds will last much longer now!
