96 powerstroke Knock
I recently found out what problems I was having with my truck not starting in the cold weather. It never wanted to start when it wasn't plugged in. I was told this was the glow plugs possibly. Does anyone have any other ideas? Today when I took the truck to get fuel it started to knock bad, like a gas motor with a rod knock. I don't know much about diesel motors and this has never happened before. Any ideas? I shut the truck off immediately and had it towed home. i was wondereing if anyone has had any issues with this in the past or know where I might start. I hope to GOD I don' need a new motor and that the truck hasn't thrown a rod!!

Very well could be a rod. Even tough its not gasoline, they still have the same components. It could be a rod thrown, or a valvle sticking open. Your gonna have to do a tear down of the motor.

it could be just a real bad fuel knock.was it a slapping knock.if it was you should have a hole in your block,or your oil pan should have dents in it.

No oil is leaking and there isn't any dents in the pan or holes in the block.......So, I pray that it's an injector problem or something. I am having a diesel mechanic look at it this week, he does a lot of diesel work and he seems to think by talking over the phone that it's some sort of fuel problem. I have not a clue. I just hope it doesn't mean a new engine or rebuild right now.

how you say its knocking i would say you have a bad harness and some dead injectors too.
