smoking high RPM knock

The other day my 95 F-350 Diesel (all stock) started smoking upon startup but would eventually clear up as I drove. Yesterday the smoke continued and also came a loud knocking noise when I drove at higher rpms. The truck has almost 300k on it so I know its old, but it doesn't seem to be lacking much power. I am a uneducated on diesel workings and since the economy won't allow me to take it to a shop I hope someone here can help. Thanks

the exhaust on those are very restrictive, that could be one of your lack of power problems.

injector

a buddy took a look at it and ran some tests and found that #5 injector was shot. He also said that when he did a compression test on the cylinder that it was full of diesel and it blew up his guage by going over 1000psi. I hope there is no internal damage. we are going to replace the injector and then see. also he said that #8 seems off a bit as well. Thanks for all your replies! The local shop wanted $940 to put in 1 new injector, wiring harness, and new gasket. WOW!

did you ever determine you knock? my truck is a 95 350 5 speed 4.10 gears dually. I have a high rpm knock above 2500. it sounds like the engine is coming out.
