low fuel mileage help
I just bought a 1997 F350 7.3L with 111000 miles and an auto 4x4. I am only getting 13.75 mpg. Does anyone have any sugestions as to why my mpg is so low. I had a 95 that got 22 mpg. Thanks for the help!!!

I forgot to ask what ratio he has. My 96' 4x4 has 4:10s and i get 13 min (country driving, alot of slowing down, acceleration, turning, and hills.) I have never testing interstate driving but mixed highway with alot of stop and go i get 15-16. One time I took a trip to the jersey shore a few weeks ago. Got 22' cause I was interested
forced fill.

I just bought my F350 and drove it home from Orlando. I only got 11-12 mpg, but I was running 70-72 mph most of the way. That's 2300-2500 rpm (4:10 gears), so I guess that's to be expected. I live in a rural area so I'm hoping to get 15 mpg or better. I went from a 98 Chevrolet 2500 with 3:73 gears to this. No comparison. I did get 17-19 mpg with the Chevy though.

my cc 95 is an auto 4x4 with 3.55's and best i got was 22 mpg (imperial) highway at a hair under 2000rpm. If i'm driving on 55 mph roads in o/d the rpms are too low and it actually takes more fuel than if i leave it in drive. I can drive on 55mph roads and a lil bit of stop and go and the mileage is crap. Only way to get 20 plus on mine is on a highway going constant speed anything else ~15-17 mpg again imperial.
