appears normal

My 96 does around 14 at 3500 rpm. My friend's 97 does the same. he has about 120,000 miles and averages 16 cities and 18-19 hwy bone stock. My 96 has 230,000 when purchased mid 2011. I have spent all kinds of $$$$ trying to improve 14 mpg and psi. Think I'm chasing my tail.

Mods/repair hoping to increase mileage:

_Replace all ground cables and added 3 extra (car audio background)
_replace every battery connectors
_two new Oddesy batteries
_high out alternator 160a
_riffraff filter assembly
_new down 3" down to 4" no muff exhaust
_new rebuilt tranny. Ouch!
_larger tranny pan from riffraff
_PHP 6_p chip
_Edge CTS touch screen to monitor
_new diff sensor OEM
_new cps sensor OEM
_new back pressure tube and sensor OEM
_glow plugs/uvcd/wiring OEM
_new complete fuel bowl assembly OEM
_new mechanical lifter pump OEM
_newer version computers PCM?
_new PS pump
_new sets of tires
_all ball joints replaced

Gears and tires. My truck with 38s and 4.10s I got 16.4mpg. 35s and I'm getting about 15mpg. My boost will top out at about 23psi on stock injectors. My fuel pressure sitting is 70psi and foot on the floor is about 45-50psi. My egts extended run foot on the floor will top at 900-1000*.

23 psi? How? The 265/75R16 will put my truck at 70 at 2500rpm(from memory). Im sitting on new OEM Garrett/pedestal/backpressure delete debating on install. Maybe then my truck would see 20 plus. If not, WW2 would be my next option? Low boost at normal driving rpm equates to poor mileage? Not enough power/torq at low throttle to put the truck on the move quickly. Boost at 90% throttle and high rpm is not really usable for daily driving. If some how i can have more psi at 25-50 tps, the truck would get better mpg. My supercharge civic gets 30mpg for daily driving at 15-25% on the tps with only several pound of boost at really low rpm.

I'd go WW2 the compressor wheel that's in it might be rough have you looked at it?

Well I have a chip. Even stock though I can hit 20psi. Your gauge could have a leak. Easy way to tell is in hook it underneath the hood and take the shop air with the regulator turned down to something below blowing your gauge up and hold it on the line. The spray soap or listen. Kind of a 2 person thing.

Oh and if you want more boost a WW2 isn't going to do a whole lot. Try a 1.0 housing. They spool up real nice. Mine at 60mph is about 3-5psi.

Currently monitoring boost electronically with Edge CTS touchscreen. Even with the PHP chip set to 80hp race mode, max out at 18 psi w/ the throttle at the limit. This settings is most certainly not MPH friendly. More MPG is very difficult with this truck.

Ok yeah so a map sensor isn't probably the most accurate. It sounds like a 4.10 gears as well. I bet with a real gauge you'd be seeing around 20+. Then again I go maxed out on the my chip in the 140hp/ Extreme tune.
