No theres no IDMs in anything older than 94.5 7.3. Any IDMs from 94.5 to 2003 7.3 will work.

Its on the drivers side fender wall right next to the distribution box and brake booster. Its a gray box about 7 x 5 x 2 with a big connector on it held by 3 long bolts to the fender wall

Not any easy ways other than testing each pin(like 32 of them). You could take it out and give it a gentle shake and if you hear anything rattling it would be a prime candidate but that is by no means a sure fire test. Honestly if i were you you need to test fuel pressure and oil pressure first and do what i stated in that thread from beginning to end. IDMs dont tend to fail super often like some other things in the truck.

Well you need to test the oil PRESSURE too. Try unplugging the icp sensor and try starting it like that.
