PO603 Code Bad PCM
Hello All,
My truck started running rough last month and so I took it to my local diesel mechanic. It seems to idle fine and drive OK until I really need the power and then it has none. Falls on it's face. After that it idles really rough and eventually dies. If I drain the filter bowl and let it prime back again it seems to crank up and run fine again until I give it alot of fuel and back to no power and idle rough. He pulled the codes and only got a PO603 KAM. He tried to clear it and it comes right back with no interuption in power. He spoke to the Ford dealership and they said I need a new PCM or have mine rebuilt. 1995 Ford F-250 4X4 Automatic 7.3 Powerstroke VIN 1FTHX26F85KB66716 The numbers on the PCM are: F5TF-12A650-BJF DPC202 He spoke to a rebuilder and they said 300.00 for a rebuilt one after the core is returned. Even though all the others at Autozone, NAPA, Orielly's ect are 150.00 to 200.00 but my particular part number is not available from these suppliers. He said that mine is an oddball PCM and no one is making new ones or rebuilding them much. Am I going down the right path? Has anyone had any luck with buying the cheaper PCM and installing it? Does my PCM really need to be replaced? Thanks for any help you guys can provide. Jeff |

kam stands for Keep Alive Memory there is also an internal error with you PCM so it probably needs to be rebuilt don't take my word on it.

pcm code 603
i have what appears the code, but whats strange is i backed into shop and
did stancor gpr upgrade thats all,one thing that happen was i did not take positive cables off so i blew #5 30amp fuse, took cables off and continued with install. now i have a no start problem, could i have burned up pcm by not taking positive cables off,gpr works for about 30 sec.then voltage goes to 0 volts. i also pulled up a 1111 code that is connected air intake tempature. |

Maybe I overlooked it, are you running a chip or programmer? 0603 is common error.

603 code
hi, i have a edge evolution set at towing as it seems to make truck perform
better, after playing silly games with my pig i got to oil in hpop it was down about 2qts,i did the crossover and i think i did not tighten line nuts enough in the past i believe if you tighten the nuts too much you can split the ends of the flare as i seen on steel lines before, after adding the oil the pig started, now have to change glowplugsleft block heater off last night would not start this morning on just plugs, thank's |

the 603 code is from loading a program into the pcm. it will go away after a few starts and come back when you change programs.
the 1111code means no codes it passed , the 0111 is the intake sencor. put the sencor back in and ziptie it to the finder and it will go away |

p0603 is a keep alive memory reset code that usually appears when a chip is changed or removed , doesnt mean pcm is bad , need to get someone to look at this trtuck that knows more about it

I have a F550 that quit while driving. Has no modifications at all. P0603 and P1212 IPC code. IPC reads properly while cranking but still will not start. This truck has not started in months without being plugged in.
