may seem like a dumb question but have you checked the fluid level?

Could be two different problems. Brake light could be the switch/wiring under the dash.

The ABS could be a sensor. The sensor in the top of the rear diff. reports the rear wheel speed to the ABS computer. If the ring in the diff. is damaged or the sensor/wires are faulty you can get a light. Also there are sensors for the front wheels as well.

Most ABS lights coming on are due to faulty wheel speed sensors. The sensors are just magnetic detectors that sense the metal teeth on the spining wheel/ring moving across its path.

Hope this will at least point you to some items you can check without pulling the codes. I hate to say it but codes are the most reliable way to isolate and ABS fault.

is there a way to tell if the sensors are bad? Should I go to pick and pull and take a few off an old truck and swap them or something?

one more thing, parking light does not turn off any more and the ABS light turns off sometimes when the truck is not moving, mainly when I first start it. As soon as I start rolling in turns right back on.
