problems with back up lights

hey guys im trying to figure out reasons on why my backup lights do not work they have never workd and ive had the truck over a year.. im going to check the fuses when ym dad brangs home his test light but he said it might not be a fuse it could be something else... if yall have any suggestions please feel free cause i sure need them

Did you check the bulbs yet. What about the switch I believe it is located on the trans shifter cable.
