GPR = random shutdowns??

got a stock 96er with 146k miles on it with a 4spd auto, if the glow plug relay is going out, does it cause random shutdowns?? been having random shutdowns that last few weeks and it causes the check engine light to come on. when i pull over and turn off my engine, then restart, the check engine light is gone and i can drive off with no problems. this morning (saturday april 12) got in to run some errands, had a rougher than normal idle until the glow plugs shut off.

if not the GPR, i am thinking that i have an electrical problem some where since it is intermitent. my mechanic agreed with me, but until i can get it to throw a code again, he can't help.
