Can anyone help?

I have a 97 7.3 and about a month ago my truck sat for 2 days. When I parked it it ran fine. I went to go start in for work to days later all was well after about 20 seconds of idling my check engine light came on and the truck started idling real rough and would die. I went over all the little things found a popped fuse, replaced it truck ran fine. Yesterday I was driving check engine light came on and truck bogged down and ran like crap. Checked all my fuses and there all fine. I tried to hook two different scanners up and both say they cannot communicate. I was told to replace my crank sensor, but dont want to just throw money at it guessing. Any ideas fellas?

Truck has new fuel filter.
Thank you.

It was a fuse for my trailer lights. Sounds unrelated I know but it ran after that so figured I'd mention it

Have you replaced the CPS yet ? It's the classic symptom you've described .

hooked up my neighbors scanner again, and it read this time. After replacing my CPS i had 2 codes P0603 and p0270. Cleared the codes and the truck runs fine. Not sure if they will come back or not.
