Total A/C Fix

Hey all,

My AC does not work at all. I have to change the compressor, accumulator, orifice tube, and something else but I forgot the name.

Anyone have experience with this? Going to try to do it myself and see what happens lol!

Thanks in advance!

I have done some of that on my 94. I replaced the compressor, receiver/drier (accumulator), and orifice tube. I flushed the evaporator (part in the firewall box) and the condenser (part by the radiator) although some say to replace them (especially if the system experienced "black death"). You will need a vacuum pump and a manifold gauge set to do a decent job of getting the air out of the system prior to refilling with refrigerant (I got both of those at Harbor Freight since I have 3 other vehicles that have R-134a systems on them and the items were fairly inexpensive ... compared to good ones). Read as much as you can on R-134a systems before getting too involved with it (you don't want to trash a new compressor!). Here's a decent article that may help you out: All About Ford Diesel A/C
