95 Pwr Stroke stumbles
My truck starts and runs great, but after it has warmed up a bit, it sometimes "stumbles", sometimes even dying but then restarts easily?
It may happen while idleing, going 10mph down a gravel road or 65mph down the hwy. ![]() No "check engine lights" I put in a new fuel filter and the oil level is good. I sure would appreciate any thoughts or insights. ![]() |

sounds like the classic problem of your CPS dying on you.

Is there a way to test the CPS?

the best test i know of is to check to see if the tach moves when cranking after a random shutdown. if it doesn't always move, CPS is probably dead. it would be a good idea to replace anyway. most people have reported about $30 for one at the dealer. it only takes a few minutes to change out.

not really, its ussually an intermittent problem.
EDIT sometimes it will throw a "background" code as an intermittent CPS problem |

if you do get a new cps dont get it at a local parts store. buy one from an international dealer an you will never have a problem with it. will also make the motor run better. sometimes it is way cheaper than from a parts store or dealer.
