Question PLEASE HELP!!

Hi guys I've searched and searched but I'm not sure what the answer might be. I had to do some welding on my bed this weekend and idiot me forgot to remove the batteries. I also installed HID headlights and fog lights. I finished everything I was working on and went to start the truck. No voltage to fire. The batteries were drained. I put it on the charger and it fired after a few minutes. I noticed the ABS light on after everything was finished also. I have always been told welding on a vehicle without disconnecting the battery can fry it. Any truth to this? I also read with powerstrokes when a battery is going bad the ABS light will come on. Someone please help. All suggestions are appreciated
