Voltage issue

When I start my truck the battery gauge stays low till u turn rpms or It gets warm. I have to plug my truck in or im afraid It will kill the battery before It starts. Could this be the alt. Is shot? Also will a superduty starter work on a obs

1996 Ford F-250 7.3 Powerstroke Diesel 286k fully built E4OD with lock up switch Stage 1.5 180cc injectors BDP fuel system Tony tunes economy daily tow street extreme smoke 3in dp-6in homemade stack traction bars fog lights and a ok sound system. Nuff fuel for 408hp just need that new gen2WW

1989 chevy 3500 with 92 gm replaced 6.5 with a 97 NV4500 banks sidewinder rv air filter and open exhaust. mileage is ur guess down right now needs a ops.

It's normal. What you are seeing is the glow plugs staying on for up to 2 min after you start. When they shut off your voltage goes back up to normal.

Thanks I thought I was gonna need a new alt. I gonna get a sd starter If it works

I would still load test batteries and check the alternator, but most likely it's just GPs, as stated.

ya when i went from my 99 to my 95 i thought the same thing cuz the gauge reads low

SOLD: 99.5 F-250 ECLB, Zoodad mod, aih delete, 22k mod, wix 46637,16.5s wrapped with 35x12.50 BFG T/As s, ccv mod, 140v IDM, heater core ball valve mod, 324,000 miles

95 F-250 ECLB, E4OD, 3in turbo back straight piped, diy intake w/ 6637 and riffraff prefilter, cool go fast stickers, 140v idm, need new ball joints and king pins...negative camber is out of this world. 266k miles
