The fan clutch is pretty simple to trouble shoot.

With the engine off and cold (after it has sat overnight), grab the radiator fan and try to spin it.

A good fan clutch will not allow the fan to turn easily.

A worn out fan clutch will allow the fan to spin relatively freely.
