Help! Fuel in valley, won't start!
Hi please help. Need to get on the road...
Started the other day, she died. Wouldn't turn back over. Opened fuel filter to find empty. No fuel in bowl. I thought it was the fuel lift pump so i changed it. Put all back together and it won't start. Opened up the hood and there is some fuel in the valley. However there is fuel in the fuel bowl. I checked all hose clamps were tight and banjo bolt was tight. This thing won't start. What did I miss? I'm beside myself right now. Contemplating mechanic. I have limited time to do this. Any offer any insight on this. She cranks great. Blows smoke. Feels like its gonna turn over and starts to chug but just never gets there. The fuel is on the back of the valley and underneath the fuel bowl.. Can someone please offer me some insight? What am I missing? Sent from AutoGuide.com App |

There's a wiring clip you have to undue to get the fuel bowl out, I think it's the ipr, it's on the drivers side of the hpop. It won't start if its not connected.
As for the fuel in the valley. Get someone to turn it over while you look for the leak. Check all those connections again. |

check your fuel lines, maybe it needs new ones, this happened on my 97 to find the lines on the motor needed to be replaced

Thanks guys gonna try that today. Ill report back. Someone told me to fill the bowl up with fuel before I cranked it. Should I have? Seems now that I should ha e left dry to see if it would bring diesel in!? Right.

You could always drain it with the water separator lever and see if it fills after that.

Help! Fuel in valley, won't start!
Just wanted to up date. I got her runnin. Couldn't have done it without you guys!
Not exactly sure what it was bit for future problem seekers. I bled the air out of the schraeder valve. Full of air. Kept cranking. Stop bleed. X's 5! Then hooked up to my car while running. And bam! Let her run for 15 min. No shutoff. Didn't die. Now the only thing is she doesn't turn right over like always. Cranks good but takes what seems like a lifetime to turn over. Hoping that driving her will cure this and my starts won't be so nerve racking! Almost like she isn't getti fuel then all the sudden it's fine and starts. Little white smoke but no more than normal when starting after sitting. Any additional insight would be nice. But as always thank y'all again! This beer (or two) is Sent from AutoGuide.com App |
