Drip...Drip...Drip
I am no mechanic.
My 95 7.3 appears to have a few small leaks. (just bought it, 200k) There is some build up where the fan connects to the engine, crank pulley I think? I had a friend look at it and told me it could be a number of things...crank seal, head gasket, coolant. Is this a dooable job for a general handyman with good instructions, or better left for the pro's? What are my options and what am I looking at for cost? |

First - is it coolant that's leaking? Identify the leaking fluid first.
The fan is attached to the water pump. They typically leak when they're about to fail. But with our water pumps, the thermostat neck is attached to the top, and the flange is a weak point and they're known to leak there. Could be leaking down from ther onto the water pump shaft. You gotta just get in there and observe. |
