Angry Fuel leak continues!!!!!

So last weekend I replace the fuel pump because it had gone south. I replaced the hoses (got them from the dealership) tightened it all back up and dry as a bone for a couple of days. This week there is fuel in the valley and under the truck!!!

I cleaned the fuel bowl out, checked my repairs on it from a year ago, and it looked solid, hoses are tight, banjo fitting tight as well. I haven't had a chance to look at the engine while it is running and see if I can spot it. However the fuel is up around the fuel bowl. A neighbor of mine and PSD owner speculated that maybe there is a small crack in the fuel bowl and when it gets hot there is a slight expansion and subsequent leak. It sounds plausible to me.........anyone else???

Thanks,
Craig

Have the same problem I am in the process of replacing the fuel filter housing (fuel bowl) right now. Got the part from Oregon Fuel Injectors (google) about $100 less then from ford, remember to order 3 hoses you need with it, they will know the three you need all short 2 at 2" and 1 at 3" they are silicone fuel lines.

Could also be the fuel/water seperator drain valve, these hare known to leak especially with the new fuel. The usually leak out the drain line but I have seen the valve go bad and it fill the valley. Let's hope for an easy fix.

Hey Scuffy, is this the black connector on the side of the fuel bowl?

Hey Q, when I did the fuel pump last weekend I put new hoses on from Ford. Thanks for the tip about Oregon Fuel Injectors as I know how pricey a new bowl is.

Hey NC, I didn't consider the drain as I figured it would leak on to the ground at the front of the truck. I will investigate this today.

I appreciate these new leads as to the possible origins of my continued problem.

Thanks ,
Craig

UPDATE The leak is coming from the hose that attaches to the fuel pump. The hose clamp won't get tight enough to stop the leak. It is stripped out I guess. It will only get so tight.....pop...and then back to being loose. Apparently, someone (ME!!!) didn't pay attention and put on all new hose clamps (or maybe I am the only guy in the world who got a bad hose clamp) .
So am I totally screwed and have to take the bowl off/out to put one lousy hose clamp on??? Is there anyway around this or am I just sitting here typing and putting off the inevitable?
Thanks,
Craig

Exclamation

UPDATE Never mind the small leak from the fuel bowl to the fuel pump. I have a bigger fish to fry.

There are 2 fuel lines at the front of the FPR assembly are leaking (i.e. spewing fuel). They run from the FPR to each head, when I removed the plastic protective sleeve I saw how cracked and worn they are.. The passenger side looks fairly easy to remove, however, the driver side is turning into a nightmare. To get to the end of this line I have had to remove the A/C compressor, and now have to remove the bracket that holds the A/C compressor and power steering pump. Has anyone done this and how do you get the bracket and power steering pump off? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, 2 questions:
1) When I get new lines, should I get braided lines as I don't care to go thru this again.
2) Am I fixing one leak and causing more pressure to build exposing weak lines? It seems as though I have been chasing fuel leaks for a couple of weeks now.

I would love to post pictures but the computer and the camera aren't playing well together and are low on the priority list.

I just replaced the fuel pump housing and it seamed to fix my problem of the fuel leak, we also got the cam position sensor changed as well as the vehicle speed sensor, both were out.

My quite version of a rant.

Ok so I still have my fuel leak(s) and since i am off this week I am removing the fuel bowl AGAIN. This time EVERYTHING gets replaced.
Anyways the only reason I am bringing this back up is for moral support. I have already started pulling it a part.

Also, I think I am about ready to commit to getting Bean's electric pump set-up for this truck. Since this truck is a keeper I think the price will be worth it not to have this headache anymore!

Thanks for putting up with the rant and frustration. I still thoroughly enjoy my truck in spite of this continuing problem.

Craig
