Battery Light on Dash is on

My battery light is lit on the dash. I have driven the truck plenty so I am sure that it isn't an alternator or battery problem. The battery voltage is good. Could the sensor be bad? Where can I find the voltage sensor?

There is no voltage sensor for the light. The light is wired with both sides providing power (one side from the key and the other from the alternator through the fuse box under the hood). There is a diode that if either side stops providing a positive signal the diode allows a ground to be present to light the light. Are both batteries showing 14.2v?

Have your alternator checked, mine was doing the same thing and I went to take my alternator off and found a wire in the plug was cut and I hooked it back up and the light went off. I have seen a lot about the battery light being on and the alternator going bad..

Except for the wiring in between the alt and the light pretty much the only thing that would light it up is the alt itself.

Check the wires at top of alternator for fraying, etc. Re-insulate w/ electrical tape, etc as needed. There is a hose that cruises right on top of alternator and tends to rub those wires bare, resulting in battery light coming on intermittently.
