fuel pressure bounce 30-90 psi
I just put a fuel presure guage on my 97 and the needle bounces between 30 and 90 psi at idle. It bouces very fast so fast that the bright orenge needle is hard to see. does anybody know what would cause this.

It's caused by a mechanical fuel pump. The cure is a electric pump.

There is a diesel site that sells snubbers to flatten out the mechanical needle for the fuel and for the guys hooking into the MAP line for boost. I'll look around for it.

Hopefully you are just using the gauge to temporarily monitor the pressure (and usually a liquid-filled gauge is used to dampen the pulses). Liquid-filled or not, the gauge will not survive the pulsing and will fail in a short time. Cheers!

30 to 90psi seems like a lot. 90psi on stock pump hmmm. What gauge are you using, liquid filled will help a little to steady the needle out but if it's a cheap $10 gauge your problem might be in the gauge. Your fuel regulator should cut pressure before 90!!
