HPOP installation questions please.
Is there anything special that I should do when switching the hose elbows from a 15* hpop to a 17*?
I have a new HPOP to timing cover gasket. The 17* is a reman and has the quick connect elbows. I need to transfer my threaded elbows to the 17*. Are the elbows o-ringed? Now that I have seen the inside of the reservoir, I have a pretty good understanding of it all now. I think that my reservoir was draining through the HPOP to timing cover gasket, as evidenced by oil in the valley. I guess once I get it back together, I'll no for sure. There was some sort of RVT on the HPOP. I thought that was strange because though I didn't buy this truck new, I did buy it when it was only a year and a half old, in 1998. Should I use RVT when reinstalling? I have a brand new HPOP gasket. |

Both fittings (new and old) have o-rings. The RTV might have just been on there to help the install, hold the gasket in place while assembling the parts. I wouldn't recommend using RTV because if you get out of control with it you don't want that stuff in your injection system but I did use a little bit of RTV on the HPOP sprocket access cover.

Here are a few pics. Nothing much to see though.
This one I took of my wife getting prepared to takeoff, and the truck just happens to be there. Yeah, we fly powered parachutes. ![]() In this one, I'm getting ready to takeoff. ![]() And this one is one of my new trailer when I brought it home last year.
