lift pump
We have recently begun changing ou our fuel pump. We have begun taking the old one. out but it wouldn't come out so I cranked it over which loosened it but it still won't come off. I'm afraid of wrecking something else if I crank it over to many times. All advice would be great

Make sure all hoses are disconnected, banjo bolt removed, the two hold-down bolts are removed and then straight up and out. Be careful not to break off the base or drop the pump tappet into the motor. I usually take the fuel bowl out when replacing the pump (that way I can clean it out, inspect the wiring, and reseal it if necessary plus its easier that way). Cheers!

I recall mine being a sob the first time, but that was years ago. I don't recall the pump tappet being a close fit. Just needed to come straight up.

yeah its not going to be easy, you have to wiggle and jiggle that SOB out of there.

once everything is loose rotate motor by hand and watch for the pump to push up. thats when the cam lobe is up and will help to get it out and ive been told will prevent the tappet from falling in the motor.
