glow plug shot out

So I just bought my first diesel its a 97 f250 valve covers leaking runs alittle rough smokes and seems like has excessive blowby got it for 2500 so can't really complain. So yesterday I went and got vc gaskets injector o rings and wiring harnesses pulled off the driver vc and one of the glow plugs was unplugged then I realized it was missing and was just a open hole so I'm thinking I just found most of my problems the only piece i found was the heating elemen. So my question is has anyone heard of this happening or if they sell a repair kit or am i gonna have to heli coil or install steel thread to repair
