Fuel Filter Light

Driving my truck yesterday, cruzing along no place to go, just cruzing, and i decided to get on it a little, little turned into a little more until i was at WOT. Then i noticed that my fuel filter light came on, i let off the peddle and the light went off. My question is, what does the fuel filter light measure, is it set off by low fuel pressure ?

Thanks

The light comes on when there is a high differential pressure across the filter as I recall. You probably need to change your filter soon. When you were cruising, the fuel flow was low. When you really got on it, the pressure drop across the filter increased with the higher flow. I have only had my light come on once. I ran some #2 early in the winter and plugged the filter with wax.

My 95 did the same thing and it wasn't the filter. The little wire screen in the side of the housing near the top was mostly clogged. I took it out and cleaned it and reinstalled. No problem.
