Angry Can IDM cause single injector to fail?

Hi everyone, long time lurker. Been scouring the interwebs for info on this. So here's the deal, i have an early 99 f550 and it started knocking a bit at first i thought it was water in the fuel so i drained the bowl, flushed the lines, and replaced the filter. No improvement so took it down to a shop. shop told me injector 3 was bad. i've been looking for a reason to upgrade to stage 1's and a new chip. so i replaced all of the injectors, the UVCH was melted a bit on the passenger side bank. replaced that, replaced the plug outside the valve cover. still making the noise. can a faulty IDM cause a single injector to not fire? and any suggestions on next step for me or tests to try? Thanks in advance.

When you replaced the injectors did you re-flash the chip?

yeah, I ordered injectors and a chip from DP. it starts up fine, no smoke. it just has a knock. I swapped the IDM with a known working one. still have the knock. the knock doesn't seem to get louder with rpm's either. i looked at my wiring harness going to the valve covers, and it looks good. not sure where to look now.

i just noticed that this threat got stuck in the 94-98 area, it's an early 99. Fuel pressure at idle was 61 psi. fuel bowl is clean.

Where's it knocking from? Grab an auto stethoscope with a probe on it and poke around.

Although it seems real weird to me that it doesn't change with RPM if it's motor related.

took a stethoscope to engine, loudest noise is around the exhaust manifold area on cylinder 7... going to do a compression test and pull the head when i have time.
