Powerstroke problem
I have a 1997 ford powerstroke with 185,000 miles on it with an automatic transmission. When i am driving it in the morning its like the motor will hunt a little bit. The RPM's jump about 100 or 200 and you can feel the truck accelerate very slightly. I haven't looked into it at all seeing it hasn't caused any problems and that i have only noticed it when the truck is cold. Does anyone have any suggestions on what the problem could be.

Does it make a noise? A hissing noise? If so it could be the EBPV(Exhaust Back Pressure Valve) closing so your motor heats up faster. It is completely normal. You will lose a small amount of power when the EBPV is closed too. How long do you let your truck warm up for in the morning?

No its not the EBPV i know what that is and no it doesn't loose power and it doesn't make any noise. I let the truck warm up for about 5 minutes or so on cooler days. But when it happens it is almost like someone is pushing the gas pedal down just a little more while my foot is staying still. Could it maybe be the fuel pump or and injector?
