Fuel filter problem

I went to change my fuel filter yesterday and when I got it out the fuel bowl was filled with what looked like black fuel.. Maybe water? I don't know but I'm kind of worried.. Any thoughts

Is your truck using any oil (check your oil level)? Is the filter covered with black slimy stuff (could be algae ... you can get something like Racor Biocide to treat it)? I like to drain the bowl into a glass jar so you can see any water separate from the fuel. When my injector o-rings failed the fuel was so black you couldn't see sun through it. Cheers!

I just got the truck but I'm going through it and changing the valve cover gaskets, wiring and intake/Y pipe boots. How hard is it to do injector o rings? I should probably do it while the valve covers are off..
