1997 F250 PSD - Oil leak
Gents,
Looking for some help with an oil leak. I'm not looking to fix it myself, rather know whats going on before taking it to the shop. Ok....from underneath there is some kind of cover, it's just past the oil pan going towards the rear of the truck, and its right next to the starter. It's not air tight, and has a 'nipple' like opening in the middle of the cover, and top edges have openings as well. The oil is not coming from the nipple, rather its coming from the edge of the cover. It's a very slow leak....I havent seen spots in a couple days after cleaning. Anyone know what is behind that cover, and what could be leaking from behind there? Thanks, -John G. |

Look up in the valley of the motor or between the heads and see if you see any oil laying up there. Thats usually where it will end up on the part you are talking about.

Thanks Vitalidle, I'll check it out. Do you know what is behind that cover, and what the cover is called?

No oil is detected in the valley........
I checked around the HPOP and there is no oil leaking around the fittings either.... I can't seem to locate this one. It also hasn't leaked in two days. ....hard to find. -J |
