Glow plug and relay questions
I do know that my glow plug reay is bad, while I was looing around for a replacement one I stumbled across this guy on Ebay that is selling a manual relay setup that bypasses the timer in the ECU and allows the driver to choose how long the glow plugs are charged. Here is a link
eBay Motors: Ford diesel glow plug Manual relay controller- solenoid (item 280148765762 end time Sep-10-07 16:17:32 PDT) Any opinion as to whether this is any good or should I just replace the relay with a stock one? Also, if I do have ay bad glow plugs what is the best replacement ones, Ford or is there some aftermarket ones that are better? In the past I have always had good luck with factory parts. Thx for the Help Greg G |

I wouldn't bypass the computer imo. The computer is going to know just how much/long the plugs need to glow at any given tempature. You may want to look into another option. On my old 7.3 I had incorporated a tempature sensor into on of the plug holes on the water pump that would shut down the system when the engine was at the correct operating tempature & then also connected a indicator light to the system so I knew exactly when the plugs were on because they will continue to be activated even though your "wait to start" light will be off.
