diy Intake
I have heard of some of the guys on the forum doing a diy intake. What does this entail and how would i do it. Because it seems to be relatively cheap. Also if i were to do this would it increase horsepower and fuel economy as much as say a kit i would buy offline?

it's been a while since i made one but i have made a few. youll need roughly 20" of exhaust pipe and then what i do is weld a piece of flat metal to the pipe vertically to where your going to bolt it to the fender. go to summit racing and they have the cone type oilable type filters for cheap i believe around $30.00 US. and any time you un restrict the air intake or exhaust on a diesel your golden probabaly looking at 1-2 miles per gallon and 15% on HP i like to be conservative about my numbers could be more. i'll see if i can figure out how to post a pic of one i built.

I got the filter from rifraff diesel and they might have the entire diy kit for sale. I made mine with a piece of exhaust and the filter and got a cover from them. I am on my 2nd filter. Its loud and pretty sweet.

Mine was easy to build. I used 4 inch ABS PVC pipe. And a rubber boot and a 45 degree angle pvc piece. Real easy and it looks good.
