odometers
I'm fairly new here.I own a small logging company and we run 6 94 -96 crew cab PS pickups with 5-speeds{the steep hills kill autos, brakes}.Anyway, why do the odometers all go to 399999.9 then when you expect 400k,it goes back to300000.No big deal just wondering why.Do the newer models have this quirk or didn't FORD expect this many miles?

Thats weird, havent gotten that far yet. kinda pointless adding the 6th digit if it doesnt go all the way, i know the super duty's go all the way up to 9

Yes, it's a design flaw in the speedometer. When you first turn the key on and all the odometer segments light up, you will notice the first digit looks like a reversed "6" making displaying a "4" impossible. I am always leery when I see an OBS for sale with 3XX,XXX mile/km, since you don't really know what the true mileage could be.

Yeah I've got one crewbus that has the odo in metric. When we bought it,the guy said "look, only 300100km."Well the brake and clutch petals looked like 600000km.I've since put well over 300000 on it and it still runs fine.Still have no clue to actual miles.Great rigs!
