Truck died on the way to work.

Hey guys, I would like some help with a problem I just had. On my way back from work my truck lost all power and died out going up a hill. Pulled over, started back up heard some hard knocking (almost like a dirty fuel filter), revved it then back to normal. Got up to 3rd gear and died again. Then it wouldn't start! I got a tow past the hills close to home and ran fine the rest the way on flat ground.

SO.... i changed my oil yesterday before this ever happened. I know i accidentally put over a qrt over, 15-15 1/2 qrts... Could this be the problem??? I'm waiting for engine to cool to drain some oil.
