No power and intermediate stalling issue

Well, ive done some searching on here and other forums, as well as digging around online in general...still stumped. 94.5 PSD with a 5 sp, 278k miles, old hot shot truck. One night the truck went from running great to stalling coming off the interstate. no hesitation, no warning, just died before i got to the bottom of the exit ram. Would NOT crank. We ended up pulling it to my friends place, jumped it off, etc etc and couldn't get it to run.

We ended up spraying a lil ether and it would try to run. for whatever reason when we pulled and checked all the fuses and relays, it decided to start running afterwards. For the first few miles it would run well but jump into a "limp" mode...LOTS of white smoke and no power. no CEL tho. limped it home over the next couple days and left it.
Ive run it off both tanks now after adding stuff to dry the fuel, changed all the rubber lines, changed the lift pump, and have checked some of the electrical. The truck has a tuner and ive put the stock program on it and the only thing i can check with it is the oil temp, rpm and backpressure...which is reading at a constant 52 psi. From what ive gathered, it can make it run funny, but would it be causing it to stall?

As of tonight, i can go to crank the truck and it will take 5-10 secs to crank up and run on its own. you can tell halfway through cranking its firing some but wont run on its own till it spins over a bit more. It will idle fine, although it seems like something is amiss, and after somewhere between a min and 5+ mins, itll stall. After doing that a few times, ive tried revving it (once its had a chance to get a little warm) and itll spin to 2500, sometimes 3000, but gets there slower than it should. Injectors are fairly new (20-30k miles) and the main engine harness seems to have been replaced around 2001. im at a total loss. thanks for any help!!!
