Auto tranny question

I noticed on my 95 if you are in drive and get it up to about 2000rpm and start accelerating the rpm drops down probably ~300 rpm and continues accelerating. I assume that this is the tq converter goin into lock up? Is you keep it steady so the revs climb slightly it does not do this. When i put it in o/d it drops down in rpm when it goes in then like a split second later it drops down more. Again i assume the tq convertor is goin into lock up.
