Average cost to rebuild an auto tranny of 95 F250 PS?

hey everyone,
My tranny on my 95 F250 4x4 PS just blew up. It is an automatic. I'm calling a bunch of shops on Monday to get some prices for a rebuild. What kind of $ should I be expecting to shell out? Just want to have an idea for when I get quotes from the shops, see if they are on target or way off. Thanks a bunch. Atom...

Alright lets try this again.
Are you just going for a stock rebuild?
Are you planning on doing any heavy hauling or pulling or racing? Are you planning on chipping the truck?
There are probably 15 diferent levels of build.

Just going for the stock rebuild. heaviest thing we are going to haul is an overhead camper once in a while. I didn't realize there were tons of options.
thanks, Atom...

Had one rebuilt in 2008 for $1600. It lasted almost a year and had to be rebuilt again (under their warranty). I think alot depends on what location you are in. Try and find a reputable tranny shop and don't let the "cheapest" shop work on it. You get what you pay for...

Thanks Bondsman,
appreciate the info. looks like they start about $1600.00 and go up from there. 1 yr or 12,000 mile warranty also seems to be standard. thanks again, Atom..

No problem.
You will find a vauge question such as youre first post wont get you far. You neeed to elaborate a little. Most will read that and move on. That is why I asked the questions i did so others Who may have had the same exsperiance as you could help. Like you said $1600.00 and up well there are guys running around with around 5K in there trans.
