Trying free exhaust upgrade on '97
Ok, I just got finished installing a full 4" farm boys exhaust on a '02 F250. I was wondering if anyone has ever used the downpipe and/or exhaust out of a newer in an OBS? I know I'm gonna try to use one of the pieces to remove my cat try to put a straight piece in its place. Even thought about using the downpipe, but I had to cut it to get it out. just wondering if anyone else had tried this.

A 4" tail kit from a SD will work on a OBS, the hangers even work the only thing that didn't work was the muff, which didn't matter because it went bye bye. All I had used was the a piece to go from the 3" DP to my 4" pipe I think I have about $30 in my system and that was for the adapter and clamps.

Do you have any pics of it? I'd like to see how you did it. Does the flange on the bottom of the down pipe match between the two trucks?

Are you wanting a SD 4" kit or are you asking if a stock SD kit would work.
I don't have any pics from underneath the truck. for the flange I used a 3" to 4" piece and put the flange on it. this is the only pic I have right now.

The factory downpipe out of a SD will not work in an OBS, the whole engine to firewall arrangement is against you. If you can make the rest work, more power to ya, but you will still have a restrictive factory muffler and 3.5" pipe all the way back. Not really an upgrade at all.

Why not!
![]() I found it in a scrap pile and rigged it up. It's just a good conversation piece and gets a lot of looks. I just tell people its to pull out Dodges. |
