Transmission temp?
O.K. I got my guages in, but my trans temp is running high. What should I expect for temps and what is too high?
Thanks |

Mine normally stays around 140 or so cruising around, if you start seeing over like 215 I would start to get a little worried

they usually run about 80 degrees above ambient temps...
what temps are you seeing? |
|

anything above 215 is high. I usually run 140-150 degrees empty.

I am running 215 to 250. It gets there pretty quick and just stays there. I wonder if I have a bad guage. Just installed new autometer this weekend and never had a guage before. It sits at about 200 and slowly climbs while just idleing? Any suggestions?

that is way too hot.... your cooking your trans at those temps...
could be a bad gauge... might want to install a new one or check all your grounds... it shouldnt be idling at 200.... |

Yeah anything over 200° is bad thats when are starting to decrease your tranny's lifespan.

check your grounds, had the same problem. Found out I had a bad ground. Fixed it, and I don't see anything above 150.
